Attending the Earth Day Summit 2023 in Los Angeles was an exceptional and inspiring experience. The summit brought together numerous leaders in the sustainability industry, organizations focused on reducing waste, and those creating sustainable spaces in the fashion sector, as well as addressing injustices within the retail industry. Ashleigh Dawson , the founder of Recycle2Riches, delivered a great speech on the resources available and the power of collaboration to drive circularity in retail.
The event had clothing repair booths, panel discussions led by sustainability experts, and networking opportunities with like-minded individuals. Clementina “The Sustainable Latina” Martinez-Masarweh , the founder of Vida Vert Sustainable Film Festival and DNA Sustainable Threds, delivered a powerful speech highlighting the intersections of art, fashion, and film, and the need for diversity within the sustainability movement.
Pentené M. , the founder of Journey Your Style, provided an insightful perspective on the healing potential of wardrobe and style, emphasizing the role of clothing in fostering personal growth and wellness. Corinne Brothers, founder and owner of Rule Design & Development, offered a fresh take on circularity in design, discussing the repurposing of large fabrics from companies to reduce waste.
The panel discussion was skillfully moderated by Sandra Hanns, creator, and producer of iGreenMediaGroup.com and its Divisions, who asked detailed questions and focused on the intersections of sustainability and finance. The summit was a remarkable opportunity to connect with industry leaders and like-minded individuals, demonstrating solidarity and inspiring change in the Fashion District community. #sustainability #circularity #LAEarthDaySummit #Recycle2Riches
